Biography
Dr. Hakan Arslan is a professor of chemistry at Mersin University. He holds a B.S. degree in chemistry from Erciyes University (1993), an M.S. degree in chemistry from the same university (1995), and a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from Nigde University (1998). Professor Arslan did his first postdoctoral research at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga, USA and his second postdoctoral research at the Department of Natural Sciences, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC, USA. In addition, he has authored and coauthored more than 100 technical papers in peer-reviewed journals. Arslan also made about 50 presentations at various major national and international conferences. Moreover, he is an editor or editorial board member of many journals (e.g., European Journal of Chemistry, Journal of Chemistry, International Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, American Journal of Chemistry, etc.). He also acts as a referee for major international and national journals. His research interests include synthesis and characterization of novel thiourea and N-heterocyclic carbene derivative ligands and their metal complexes, thermal behavior and decomposition kinetics studies, single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction studies, theoretical molecular spectroscopy, and vibrational spectroscopy.
